Basic Skills Requirements:
High school diploma or GED - TABE scores of: 11 math, 10 reading and language

MISSION: Prepare a superior pharmacy technician for the twenty first century.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The program is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and offers training in retail/community pharmacy and hospital/institutional pharmacy.
The program offers a combination of classroom instruction, skills practice including extensive IV practice in the clean room (IV hood), and both a retail and an institutional clinical rotation completed at local area pharmacies.
Completion of the program should provide the knowledge and training necessary for the student to pass the national certification exam offered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

All students are expected to have basic computer knowledge and access to a computer for approximately 2 hours each night. A basic keyboarding skills program will be required to be completed by each student. Please note that all Tampa Public Libraries have computers set up in the libraries available for use.
Are online classes available?
Some sections of the Basic Healthcare Worker are to be completed online after meeting in class to discuss the lessons and expectations.
Does this mean I don't have to attend class?
You will still have to attend class as indicated by your instructor and class schedule.
Is job placement available upon graduation?
Advisory committee representatives and teachers provide students with guidance and recommendations.
